Salary: £29,485 to £31,088 a year inclusive of HCAS

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person with a keen eye for detail to join our busy Cardiology administration team. The postholder should be proactive and have excellent communication, good IT skills, and prioritise workloads for themselves and others to accommodate changing demands within the team and service.
They will have key working relationships with all members of the administrative and clinical teams including nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and support workers. They will act as the first point of contact (in phone and in person) in communication with patients, relatives and GPs and other external hospital staff / tertiary referrers.
Previous experience of working in the NHS is desirable, however experience of working in an office environment is an essential requirement for this role.

Main Duties
Communication and Patient Liaison
- Communicate clearly, effectively and compassionately with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their family, visitors or carers, in line with the Trust’s values.Â
- Manage and answer telephone calls related to the service in a courteous and prompt manner, taking telephone messages and passing on written or verbal information to patients.Â
- Resolve simple queries, using judgement to determine when to pass the caller on to a member of the clinical team.Â
Pathway Administration
- Conduct reminder calls to patients, rearranging appointments where necessary in order to prevent non-attendances.Â
- Input clinical correspondence onto hospital databases.Â
- Sending correspondence to patients, GPs, or others involved in the care of a patient, in a timely manner.Â
Data and Systems responsibilities
- Input and access information on hospital information systems as required.Â
- Ability to use patient databases, inputting data and editing entries as required.Â
- Record and capture patient information appropriately and in line with Standard Operating Procedures.Â
Qualifications
Knowledge and Qualifications (Essential)
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths
- Knowledge of administrative procedures, acquired through training and/or previous experience of working in an administrative environment.
- Awareness of the requirement to maintain confidentiality, and knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, Customer Service, Healthcare Support Services or equivalent qualification.
Experience (Essential)
- Experience of working in a non-routine environment, with demonstrable evidence of being able to respond to queries and deal with unpredictable situations as they arise (acquired through experience and/or training to Vocational level 3 or equivalent).
- Experience of working in an administrative environment, with knowledge of a comprehensive range of administrative procedures.
Desirable
- Previous NHS experience, or experience of working in a healthcare setting.
