Administrative Assistant (Part Time, Fixed Term) – University of Cambridge – Cambridge

About the Role

Applications are invited for a part-time Administrative Assistant in the Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support on the EMBRACE study (http://ccge.medschl.cam.ac.uk/embrace/), a long term, multi-centre study which recruits from over 20 genetic clinics around the UK (there are currently over 15,000 subjects in the study). The study is funded by Cancer Research UK.

This post is based in the Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology, which forms part of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. The Centre carries out research into inherited susceptibility to common cancers and conducts significant large-scale analyses both within the Centre and as part of ongoing collaborations. The Centre comprises some 25 staff, including research staff, statisticians, administrative staff and post graduate students as well as 2 – 3 visiting researchers each year.

Applicants should have excellent communication, administrative and IT skills (proficient in Microsoft Office) and should be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Experience of working in a medical research environment and/or knowledge/understanding of medical terminology would be an advantage but is not essential.

This appointment is part-time (maximum of 24 hours/week), working days can be flexible but would ideally include Fridays.

The funding for this post is available for 1 year in the first instance, from commencement in post.
