About the Role
The Senior Information Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing andpresenting data for all aspects of his/her areas of responsibility.
He/she will work closely with stakeholders, leading development, production and promotion of a range of statistical and information services across complex areas of clinical, operational and corporate services.

We have exciting opportunities in the Information Management Team for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Senior Information Analyst.
The successful candidates will have a proven track record in a senior position within an information team, with extensive knowledge of NHS healthcare reporting. This position requires an adaptable, forward thinker who thrives on change. You will need to be understanding of client requirements and able to innovate ensuring that data becomes information and with your team turns into insight enabling the Trust to perform at its best.
You will be expected to quickly develop an understanding of the business of healthcare provision, to support and lead on quality decision making through provision of excellent analytical support. You will be an integral member of the hospital information team and be expected to contribute to the development, agreement and implementation of priorities.
Main Duties
Policy & Strategy
- To support the Business Partner – Analytics in developing and maintaining a Trust wide Information strategy and business plans, participating in processes and governance arrangements which enable the strategy to be updated regularly to reflect changes in local, national and international data requirements and standards.
- To support development and implementation of Trust-wide plans for the Information strategy.
- To develop and maintain information management policies and procedures consistent with the information strategy, Trust systems, national requirements, workflows and operational practices. Leadership
- Engage with stakeholders at all levels to better understand their needs and to promote and raise awareness within the Trust of the importance of informed decision making and the role that analytics can play.
- To promote and implement plans to encourage an ‘information able culture’ across the Trust based on users directly accessing information according to their needs and to participate in audits to ensure compliance with Trust, NHS and international standards where appropriate.
- To provide professional leadership in the post holder’s areas of responsibility for delivery of a broad range of complex activities based on sound understanding of data, data sources and technical processes required for analysis, interpretation and presentation.
Delivery
- Implementation of consistent, user friendly, efficient and effective ways of delivering meaningful analysis and information that enables users to make informed decisions about patient care, resource use and future requirements in the post holder’s areas of responsibility.
- To establish ‘easy to understand’ methodologies, metrics and performance indicators to measure and report regularly to managers and clinicians on achievement of activity targets, care quality standards and progress with corresponding action plans
Technical Capability & Knowledge
- To be the professional lead in the post holder’s areas of responsibility and provide expert advice and support to others in relation to collection and interpretation of data and the results of complex analysis.
- To provide expertise in information management, complex analytical techniques, interpretation and presentation of the findings of analysis.
Qualifications

Education & professional Qualifications (Essential)
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Mathematics and English
- Masters degree or equivalent experience
Experience (Essential)
- Substantial experience of NHS information systems, sufficient to have gained an in depth knowledge of the way data is held on Trust’s Patient Administration Systems (PAS)
- Extensive experience of analysing information, preferably in the NHS, with evidence of success at producing reports/models/statistic al analyses that met the clients’ needs
- Knowledge of patient pathways within primary and secondary care sector
Desirable
- Knowledge of secondary care commissioning mechanisms
Skills and aptitudes (Essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, producing reports/documentation to a professional standard, with an ability to communicate and present complex issues to audiences with a range of understanding.
- Able to build good business relationships and liaise effectively with senior management, clinical staff and other colleagues
- Proven ability to design and manage programmes of work, including the ability to act on own initiative in these areas
- Expert understanding of the concepts and techniques of spreadsheets and relational databases
- Experience of advanced SQL querying techniques
- Knowledge of and experience with relevant statistical/mathematical modelling packages
- Extremely numerate/logical and able to analyse and interpret data and information accurately and effectively
