Role overview
A national company are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented bookkeeper to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing financial records and will be proficient in various accounting software. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial information, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
- Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and vendors.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management review.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Closing and being responsible for month end.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes by providing relevant financial data.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
- Support the finance team with any additional administrative tasks as required.
Experience
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role within an accounting environment.
- Excellent IT skills and a forward-thinking, modern attitude.
- An understanding of automated processes and how to use AI in accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero is essential.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication skills.
