Job Overview

We’re a relationship-led accountancy practice with a focus on efficient, well-run finance processes and a genuinely collaborative team. We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to support a varied portfolio of clients, playing an important role across day-to-day finance and general administration.

The role is focused on managing a business’s day-to-day financial and accounting activity, including bookkeeping, record keeping, tracking and reconciliations. You’ll be a confident problem-solver with strong communication skills and solid Excel capability and ideally have experience of accounting software including Xero, Sage – experience with production specific software such as Money Penny a huge bonus!

Previous bookkeeping experience is essential, alongside a proactive mindset and a willingness to suggest improvements to systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately in the daybook, supplier ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process regular bill payments on behalf of clients.
  • Maintain ledgers, journals, and reconciliations.
  • Support with the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Process client invoices, including recording and approving or rejecting payments.
  • Raise invoices for deliveries and pay vendors for goods and services.
  • Prepare purchase orders in line with requests for materials.
  • Record cash receipts and arrange bank deposits.
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash.
  • Liaise with clients via correspondence and meetings.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support as required.
  • Complete additional bookkeeping tasks as assigned by management.
  • Travel to client offices when required.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure transactions are processed accurately and on time.
  • Assist with client reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a bookkeeping position.
  • AAT Level 2 qualified and studying towards (or already completed) Level 3.
  • A strong commitment to continuing professional studies.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
