Salary: £34,980 to £44,263 per annum

The Campus Jobs Manager will be responsible for the majority of the employment activity of non-substantive workers at the University, including the full worker life-cycle (recruitment, payment and leaver processes). The Campus Jobs Manager, and their team, provide a professional service to recruiting managers, ensuring an efficient and effective recruitment service. The post-holder will have overall line management responsibility for the Campus Jobs team (2.0 FTE)

Main Duties

  • To lead, manage and promote the Campus Jobs service University wide, providing a seamless, timely and easy to access recruitment solution for students that supports the employability agenda by actively recruiting students to meet the demands of the University.
  • Line management of staff in the Campus Jobs Service, including recruitment and selection, undertaking PDRs, managing performance and monitoring workloads effectively.
  • To have overall responsibility and accountability for the effective and efficient day to day running of the Campus Jobs Service. The Campus Jobs Manager acts as an escalation point within the Campus Jobs Service, taking ownership and resolving all low level and medium level issues independently. For high level issues seek advice and assistance from the HR Operations Lead and other senior colleagues.   
  • To promote the Campus Jobs service to prospective students, current students and staff members: at in-person events such as at Welcome Week, Open Days, fairs and workshops; and online including on ‘Essentials’ webpages and on social media.
  • Design and deliver end to end recruitment campaigns. Develop specialist candidate pools to meet reactive demands.
  • Responsible for the issuing of terms & conditions and ‘assignment offers’ to all student and temporary workers in line with set procedures and ensuring the service complies with the law on the prevention of illegal working by conducting the necessary right to work document checks.
  • Delivering outstanding customer service to staff and students, encouraging both stakeholder groups to either engage more student workers or complete further Campus Jobs assignments.  8. Ensure regular audits are conducted to maintain excellent data quality and compliance with relevant employment legislation/policies including proof of right to work, visa working restrictions, underage workers and DBS checks. With particular emphasis on student visa holders who cannot exceed their permitted number of working hours.

  • Experience of providing temporary worker advice at a management level
  • Experience of improving processes and working practices
