About the Role
Our client, a domiciliary care company based in Chesterfield, is seeking dedicated Care Assistants to join their expanding care team.
We are looking for caring, compassionate, dedicated, and reliable individuals to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to people in their own homes across Chesterfield. This includes supporting adults over and under 65 years, individuals living with mental health conditions, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and dementia, as well as those requiring palliative or end-of-life support, respite care, or live-in assistance. All care is provided in a way that promotes independence, dignity, and choice.
You must be willing to undertake care calls between 6am–9pm, according to the rota and allocated domiciliary/home care schedules. This role requires flexibility, empathy, and initiative when working both independently and as part of a wider care team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide personal care and support as detailed in service users’ support plans.
- Follow care and risk assessments to ensure service users live safely in their own homes.
- Assist with medication, meal preparation, and light household/cleaning tasks.
- Support with social interaction and encourage independence wherever possible.
- Maintain accurate records and report any concerns or hazards.
- Develop good communication and effective relationships with service users, families, and colleagues.
- Work within service users’ homes, respecting different environments and needs.
- Dress in line with the company’s dress code.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Holds a Level 2 or 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care, or a relevant care-related qualification from the UK or overseas that demonstrates suitability for the role.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness to complete the Company’s intensive knowledge and skills training involving client placements under supervision, passing the theoretical and practical assessments, and being signed off on having the competencies required before commencing employment.
- Good comprehension of the English language.
- Accurate record keeping.
- Ability to recognise poor practice and report hazards.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience with medication administration and health monitoring
- Experience working in domiciliary/home care.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development (e.g., disability awareness, managing challenging behaviour, mental health support, medication handling).
- Demonstrated interest in progressing within the care sector (e.g., senior carer, team leader, or trainer roles).
