Position: Care Assistant

Salary: £24,790 – £25,183 per annum, pro rata. (£12.85-£13.05 an hour)

About the Role

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.

This post attracts a welcome payment of 5% of the starting salary for the grade to enable individuals to join our permanent workforce. This is payable upon successful completion of your probationary period and is subject to eligibility criteria.

About the Team

This permanent role is for 17.5 hours per week and involves a rota system which will involve working late shifts from 5 pm to 10 pm. You also will be working every other weekend with some bank holidays for which enhancements are paid.

The Hawthorn Court offers a vibrant community atmosphere which is in Keynsham, and this is easily accessible via public transport or car.

Responsibilities

As an Extra Care Support Worker, you will:

  • Assist tenants with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene and dressing.
  • Promote tenant’s independence, choice, dignity, and respect by delivering the best standards of care.
  • Adhere to and complete accurate and timely records of the care and support provided to tenants.
  • Providing support to access third party and NHS services.
  • Be a strong team player and work on own initiative when needed.
  • Promote lifestyle choice, offering individuals the opportunity and motivation to retain independence and stay in control of their lives.

What is Extra Care?

Extra Care Housing is for adults, who have some care needs, with an assured tenancy in a self-contained flat in a purpose-built or adapted scheme. Our Extra care housing services have been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in June 2022.

About You

  • Previous experience of working in care would be an advantage, but a commitment to deliver quality care is essential and full training will be provided.
