Care Assistant – Fife Council, Fife | Part-Time 20–30 Hours

This role suits individuals who can communicate clearly, stay organised, and manage their workload with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a team. Daily responsibilities include assisting with personal care, administering medication, and supporting with essential tasks such as budgeting, cooking, and maintaining a clean living environment. The position also requires physical capability, including moving and handling duties and the ability to carry out tasks such as kneeling and standing with ease, ensuring safe and consistent care delivery for service users.

Job Details

To provide support for people within their own homes and their local community. This may be in a shared tenancy or a one-to-one basis where successful applicants may be lone working.

You will be provided with all necessary training such as Moving and Handling, Dysphagia, Medication and Lone Working etc. where required.

Auto enrolment onto the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

Enhancements of time and a third for unsocial hours.

Sleepovers are paid at the SGLW currently £13.64 per hour.

32 annual leave days rising to 37 days after 5 years.

This role includes dayshifts, backshifts, sleepovers and nightshifts and weekend working.

The Person

  • Must have or be willing to achieve in the first period of registration, the social services and healthcare SCGF level 5 (equivalent to SVQ2) or equivalent to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration.
  • Communication skills, organisational skills, ability to manage and prioritise workload, ability to work with minimal supervision, team working skills, literacy skills and basic IT skills.
  • Ability to provide support to individuals with personal care needs, medication administration, budgeting, cooking and cleaning, moving & handling, ability to undertake physical tasks e.g. being able to comfortably kneel on beds and floors and able to rise without difficulty.
  • As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
  • If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you’re registered within the required six months.
  • If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.
