- Support people to speak up for themselves – or be their voice when they can’t.
- Encourage involvement in everyday activities that promote independence and inclusion.
- Work with care plans using our care planning system.
- Support with health and personal care (including continence and mobility), and manage behaviours when needed.
- Safely support people in wheelchairs and help with transport using our vehicles.
Delivering top-quality care
- Keep accurate, up-to-date records of care and support.
- Share important information with Team Leaders and Supervisors.
- Complete our induction and training programmes – and keep building your skills.
- Be an active part of the team, attending meetings and contributing ideas.
- Always treat everyone – from the people we support to their families and fellow staff – with respect.
- Help new colleagues get settled and understand the people they’ll be supporting.
- Follow all Focus Birmingham policies to ensure safe, high-quality care.
What we’re looking for:
Essential

- Genuinely passionate about helping people live their best lives.
- A good team player who lifts others up.
- A positive attitude, even when things get tough.
- Able to support with manual handling and wheelchair use.
- Willing to learn and use different ways to communicate.
- Confident in using written English to record care clearly and accurately.
Desirable
- Previous experience supporting people with care needs.
- Familiarity with Makaton, PECs, or other communication aids.
- Comfortable using basic IT for training and care records.
