English and French are Canada’s official languages. As a caregiver in Canada, you must be proficient in at least one of these languages. Your language skills will be assessed based on your ability to communicate effectively and work independently in an unsupervised setting. You can demonstrate your language proficiency through language tests such as IELTS or CELPIP for English and TEF or DELF for French.

For child care, you must have completed a secondary education diploma or equivalent. Additionally, you must have a childcare diploma or certificate, or a minimum of 6 months of full-time childcare experience. For healthcare, you must have a degree or diploma in a field related to healthcare, such as nursing or personal support work.
