About the Role

OakShed Care, a domiciliary care agency located in Truro, serves communities throughout West Cornwall. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate community care workers who are passionate about making a meaningful impact on the lives of others. While prior experience in care is advantageous, it is not essential. We prioritize candidates who share our core values. Comprehensive training will be provided to the right candidates, ensuring they acquire the skills and competencies necessary to deliver the highest standard of care to our service users.

Please note that this position requires an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and the successful completion of mandatory training.

Main Duties

  • Assisting with all aspects of personal care including showering/strip washing/bathing, oral care, grooming and getting dressing, etc…
  • Assisting with managing all toileting and continence needs, including changing pads and skin integrity management.
  • Preparing meals, drinks and snacks and serving at the appropriate times.
  • Assisting with feeding, ensuring adequate food and drink intake.
  • Assisting with medication (once competence tested)
  • Assisting with planning and shopping.
  • Completing light house duties, such as vacuuming, washing dishes, etc.
  • Supporting visits to other Health Professionals e.g., Hospital, GP, dentist.
  • Providing emotional support by listening and talking to service users as an important part of delivering support and care.
  • Companionship and participating in fun activities – watching films, card games
  • Accompanying on trips and holidays
  • Assist the Service User with the well-being of their pets.
