Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team to support children and young adults in the areas of Stafford, Stone and Stoke-On-Trent. You will be working with the same client(s) and hours are typically available at weekends, after school and during school holidays. Ideally you will have experience in providing care to children and young adults in their own home and in the community and you will have an essential role, supporting our clients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and well-being and promoting independence.
Responsibilities will vary according to the individual clients needs. They will include some or all of the following tasks:
- Personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support with meal preparation and nutrition.
- Assistance with medication administration as per care plans and guidelines.
- Engagement in meaningful activities.
- Companionship and emotional support.
- Implementation of behaviour management strategies for clients with specific needs.
- Maintaining accurate records to detail progress and report any changes in health or behaviour.
- Ensuring a safe environment.
- Some of our clients have complex care needs and may require support with PEG feeding, seizure management or administration of oxygen in accordance with their care plans.
In some instances you may be required to drive clients to appointments or social activities.
Qualifications/Experience
- Previous experience is highly desirable but candidates with transferable skills and the right aptitude will also be considered.
- Relevant qualifications in Social Care are beneficial but not mandatory in all cases.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families.
- A valid driving licence is essential for transporting clients when needed.
- Ability to carry out physical care tasks including safe moving and handling in accordance with the client’s individual risk assessments and safe handling plan.
