The Vacancy
At Hymans Robertson, we’re passionate about delivering exceptional service to our clients and members. Our Digital Onboarding team plays a vital role in this by ensuring accurate, high‑quality data is at the heart of everything we do.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and making a real impact. You’ll be part of a team that onboards member data from Defined Benefit clients—either as part of a new Pensions Administration service or for short‑term project work.
If you’re detail‑oriented, proactive, and keen to grow your technical skills, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
What will your role look like?
- The purpose of this role is to extract, analyse, transform and load data from a range of sources into our Pensions Administration System (UPM). You’ll work closely with colleagues and clients to ensure data integrity and smooth onboarding, following our agile ways of working and contributing to continuous improvement.
- You’ll also have the chance to develop your technical expertise, collaborate with a supportive team, and help shape best practices for data onboarding.
Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:
- Extracting, analysing, and transforming data from multiple sources ready for loading into UPM.
- Identifying, investigating, and resolving data issues, discrepancies, and risks.
- Ensuring data sets are complete, consistent, and accurate.
- Supporting client and project requirements, attending meetings as needed.
- Following the team’s onboarding lifecycle and agile delivery approach.
- Creating and maintaining internal documentation and helping embed best practices.
- Recording all work accurately and on time in our time‑tracking system.
To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:
- A degree in a numerate subject (or equivalent experience).
- Professional‑level skills in Python and SQL.
- Experience validating, cleansing, and analysing large, complex datasets and mapping data across different sources.
- Knowledge of ETL techniques and experience working with SQL databases, including developing automated scripts and reports.
- Familiarity with Microsoft tools, including Power BI, SQL Server Management Studio, and Azure Data & DevOps Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and accurately.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for finding creative solutions.
- Clear, concise communication skills, tailored to your audience.
- Ability to plan and organise workload effectively to meet client deadlines.
- A proactive, self‑starting attitude and the confidence to work independently.
- A collaborative approach—you’ll work closely with technical and non‑technical colleagues alike.
We would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support. We would also love to hear about other knowledge and experience you may have that is not listed but could be of interest.
In addition to a competitive salary and access to our profit share scheme, we offer:
- A flexible selection of employee benefits, so you can choose a package that best matches your lifestyle and needs.
- A collaborative and encouraging work environment where your thinking and ideas are encouraged.
- On site mental health and wellbeing assistance.
- A commitment to helping you develop both personally and professionally, with mentoring opportunities and access to our award-winning learning portal, Aspire.
- Regular social activities, in addition to three days paid volunteering leave each year and a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday.
- Hybrid working so you can enjoy the positive wellbeing of working from home as well as the benefits of meeting colleagues in our sociable, modern office environments – with the expectation of two ‘in-office’ days per week.
- A flexible working window, allowing colleagues the freedom to work flexibly between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
Please note, we recruit on a rolling basis so early applications are recommended to avoid disappointment.
