Data Analyst – Hybrid at Regulator of Social Housing | Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, or Bristol

This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work remotely while being based out of one of our offices in Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, or Bristol. Ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills and experience with Excel, Microsoft Power Query, and SQL databases.

The Regulator of Social Housing plays a vital role in ensuring a viable, efficient, and well-governed social housing sector that delivers more and better social homes.

By setting standards and conducting robust regulation, the regulator focuses on driving improvement in social landlords, including local authorities, while ensuring housing associations maintain strong governance, financial viability, and value for money. Appropriate action is taken when standards are not met.

Following an expansion of powers, the regulator began conducting regulatory inspections of social landlords on 1 April 2024 to strengthen oversight and accountability in the sector.

About the Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Data Analyst to join us in a permanent role, working as part of our Data and Statistics team, dedicated to the cleaning, compilation and analysis of data on which the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) bases its regulation of the social housing sector.

Working in a hybrid fashion and out of one of our offices in Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol, you’ll join our team to support the systems which collect regulatory data from registered providers, compiling this data in tools and formats that can be readily used across RSH’s directorates.

Job Description:

  • As a Data Analyst you will be part of the team delivering our surveys collecting information from registered providers. You will support the translation of requirements for data collection into surveys in our data collection system (NROSH+). 
  • You will help deliver the collection and cleansing of data, providing support and guidance to our enquiries team, and liaising directly with registered providers to support their completion of surveys. You will examine incoming data and work with other analysts to increase provider engagement and the quality of returns.
  • You will also be involved in the analysis and reporting of data gathered through our systems, producing analytical tools which allow for structured, replicable analysis which will fulfil the regulator’s requirements for publication of data to a range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • As the successful candidate, you will have analysis skills and bring experience in the use of Excel, Microsoft Power Query and SQL databases.
  • You will bring relevant experience of handling and cleaning raw data and in supporting data collection projects.
  • You will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex information to non-specialist audiences.
  • You should be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships within RSH and with registered providers to support our data collections, cleaning and analysis.

Location

We operate a hybrid model of working with a mix of office and home working.

This role can be based out of any of RSH’s core offices in Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol. Our Manchester office will be relocating during 2025/26, however will remain within the city centre.  We offer a range of flexible working arrangements and staff can benefit from working from home for part of their hours. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, with some roles also involving onsite visits to social housing providers.

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.
