Salary: £44,806 -£53,134 per annum

About the Role

Digital and internal communications officer, Band 6Barts Health NHS Trust is looking for a bright, enthusiastic and highly motivated digital and internal communications officer that has a keen interest in helping staff feel engaged at work. It is an exciting time to join our Trust as we continue on our journey to deliver safe and compassionate care to more than 6,000 patients every single day across the largest Trust in the UK.

As a communications team, we’re responsible for promoting and defending the reputation of the Trust. We do this through strategic communications advice and support to our executive and hospital management teams, proactive and responsive media and stakeholder relations, engaging social and digital channels, creatively promoting our brand and inspiring internal communications.

Main Duties

  • This position is responsible for producing and strategically supporting on our various internal and digital communications channels, ensuring that they are engaging and informative. We are looking for fresh ideas to engage our 20,000+ staff, so creativity and a can-do attitude are essential attributes of the successful candidate.
  • The post holder will be responsible for developing our digital channels including the Trust external public facing websites, our intranet WeShare, and our social media channels.
  • You’ll be managed by the digital and internal communications manager and will work closely with colleagues in the communications team and staff Trust wide.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a related discipline

Desirable

  • Evidence of continued professional development and national best practice within the communications sector
  • CIPR accredited

Experience (Essential)

  • Leading on the development of internal communications strategies to engage staff
  • Leading on the development of digital communications strategies to engage internal and external stakeholders
  • Working within a culturally and politically complex environment
  • Leading on the implementation of communications plans under considerable time pressure – anticipating, analysing and prioritising workloads
  • Managing a content management system and training and supporting a large team of publishers
  • Commissioning, managing and using scheduling and analytical tools to plan and manage digital channels

Desirable

  • Experience working within the NHS and/or charity sectors
  • Experience of a major incident or significant major incident preparation in a complex environment

Knowledge (Essential)

  • Demonstrated understanding of effectively engaging various stakeholders
  • Commissioning and managing external contractors (writers, photographers, etc)
  • Knowledge of the NHS and public services
  • Understanding of issues around confidentiality and data protection

Desirable

  • Brand management
  • Quantitative and qualitative research methodology
  • Delivery of major incident communications

Skills (Essential)

  • Developing creative and engaging communications collateral for internal and digital communications campaigns
  • Writing and editing engaging copy
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to tolerate uncertainty and manage conflicting priorities
  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines
  • Ability to digest information from long and complex documents and other documents and to summarise in clear language and easily accessible formats to be relevant to audiences
