Position: Divisional Information Analyst

Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per year

Who we’re looking for

  • A head for numbers and technology (evidenced either academically or through relevant experience)
  • A proactive problem solver with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Experience with some of our tech stack (T-SQL, Excel, Power BI, SSRS), or similar tools
  • The ability (and desire) to proactively learn new skills
  • Previous NHS or healthcare experience beneficial

Main duties of the job

What you will be doing

  • Responsible for extracting, manipulating and analysing data
  • Lead analyst for designated specialties
  • Communicating with stakeholders (e.g. senior managers & clinicians), interpreting requirements and explaining complex findings and insights
  • Investigating ad-hoc data requests from internal and external stakeholders
  • Developing new and existing dashboards or reports, using tools like Power BI and SSRS
  • Interpret guidance, developing necessary datasets and dataflows
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Data & Analytics teams
  • Understanding business processes and workflows

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by BetsiCadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:

The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds

Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility

Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Trust employs over 5916 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 411,000. This includes 361,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in relevant discipline or equivalent professional and management experience
  • Extensive experience within similar role ideally within the NHS or other public sector.

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Experience of development and analysis of information.
  • Experience working to an information or systems methodology and contributing to local adaptation
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access and sql.
  • Awareness of data warehouses and data integration.
  • Knowledge of SPC.
  • Advanced numerical, statistical and analytical skills using the MS Office suite, in particular MS Excel.
  • Good knowledge of presentation tools in particular MS PowerPoint or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Experience with using with Quality Improvement methodology.
