Position: Domestic Assistant
Salary: £22,383 per annum

About the Role
An Exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Domestic Department at West Cumberland Hospital. Candidates should be flexible, reliable and trustworthy. Experience is preferred but training will be given.
Main Duties
Technical
- Vacuum carpets, ensuring cleanliness.
- Carry out damp dusting of furniture and fittings and at high, medium and low levels.
- Mop floor areas and maintain floors using electrical equipment when necessary.
- Check electrical equipment is in good condition and currently PAT tested.
- Clean toilets, baths, showers and washbasins.
- Empty all bins and dispose of waste appropriately, ensuring waste management regulations are followed.
- Thorough clean equipment after use.
- Assist with ward or departmental duties as appropriate.
- Undertake first wipe cleaning of bodily fluids as required
- Guard against the potential risk associated with needlestick injuries, especially in toilet areas.
- Wear uniform and protective clothing provided, as instructed.
- Make beds as requested.
- Collect food and linen stores as required.
- Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
- Comply with responsibility to safeguard children and vulnerable adults, ensuring attendance at appropriate training
Administration
- Ensure accurate records are kept as required, particularly in relation to ISO 9001:2008 and staff records. Ensure accurate data input into all computerised systems
- Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations.
- Carry out all duties with a due regard for the health and safety, and report any accidents, faults or hazards to the supervisor or nominated safety officer for the area concerned.
- Attend monthly domestic meetings as requested by the domestic supervisors
Qualifications
- Previously worked in a domestic role or hospital environment
- Used household cleaning products and equipment
- Able to work alone and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Enthusiastic
- Willing to learn
- Must be over 18 or above
- Flexible regarding shift patterns and hours worked.
- Commitment to undertake training as required.
