We have a vacancy for Experienced Social Worker in our MASH Team (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub)

Our MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub) Service

Our MASH team here in Knowsley is the Front Door for referrals into our Early Help Services and Children’s Social Care.  Our Social Workers are passionate about safeguarding children and working with partners to make timely, multi agency decisions at the correct level of intervention.  

Applicants will need to have a minimum of three years post qualifying experience in working with children and families via assessment, Child in Need and Child Protection remits.  Ideally, you will have previous MASH experience, or be able to demonstrate how your previous experiences have prepared you for the role. You will be required to complete screenings of referrals to consider what actions need to be taken to safeguard children, considering multiagency information.

Applicants will need to be social work qualified and professionally registered as a social worker with Social Work England. 

Main Duties

  • Promote the welfare and safeguarding of children, young people and their families in Knowsley.
  • To carry out timely assessments on children, young people and families in accordance with the Framework for Assessment for Children and Families and Working Together guidance. 
  • Ensure assessments and planning for children and young people actively promote the participation and engagement of all relevant agencies, the child / young person and their family.  Complete direct work with children and young people that is child centred in its approach.
  • Demonstrate that you practice within the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF) and Knowledge and Skills Statement (KSS) aligned to your grade and experience.
  • To be allocated and manage a caseload that is complex and varied.  

Qualifications

  • Ability to illustrate understanding of general social work principles and knowledge, the role and function of a social worker in the field of childcare specifically in the field of child protection
  • Knowledge and understanding of key policy drivers, legislation and recent reports addressing early help, prevention and safeguarding with children, young people and families with multiple complex needs.
  •  Ability to seek/use advice and supervision appropriately
  • To have an understanding of the role of other agencies 
  • Be able to effectively communicate with other agencies and service users and be able to work in collaboration with each other, including working directly with children to ascertain their views and understand their lived experience
  • Have the ability to manage time/self efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to write concise reports and maintain appropriate social work records
  • Experience of assessment, management of risk, vulnerability and application of thresholds in relation to children, young people and families.
  • Ability to promote the welfare and safeguarding of children, young people and their families in Knowsley
  • Degree/ CQSW/DipSW/CSS
  • Registration with Social Work England
