About the Role
A position has arisen for an experienced Health Care assistant on Jenny Lind Ward 34.5hrs per week.
Jenny Lind is an 8 bedded ward for older people diagnosed with a functional mental illness that require inpatient assessment and treatment.
We are looking to appoint a motivated and dynamic individual to join our Multi-disciplinary team.
Jenny Lind has a supportive and motivated team of staff that take pride in ensuring that the patients admitted to our service have a positive experience of treatment, support and enablement during their admission. We have an experienced team of nurses, being part of that team would allow you the opportunity to develop a broad repertoire of skills to support people that are experiencing acute mental illness but also managing often complex physical health needs associated with age and or frailty.
You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and will receive to access comprehensive training and educational courses. We will provide you with resources to develop a long term career, continual professional development as well as a wide range of personal wellbeing and support.
You would work 3 x 11.5 hrs shifts every week.. Shifts commence at 07:30hrs till 20:00 hrs for a day shift and 19:30 hrs till 08:00hrs for a night shift. Main Duties
- To complete ward CSSD Stores requests, ward documentation, Care Notes entries, and patient specific documentation.
- Support the Nurse in charge and completing delegated nursing duties.
- Maintain confidentiality, dignity, privacy and respect for patients at all times.
- Complete enhanced observations of patients.
- Supporting patients with Personal Care.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- To work within a Multi-disciplinary Team
- Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids. Including Safety Interventions training.
- Assisting in house-keeping, domestic and catering duties.
- Completion of required training.
- Supporting patients detained under the legal requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983.
- Actively participate in the clinical supervision and staff development review process.
- Escort patients from the ward ensuring their safety at all times
Qualifications
Essential
- Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids
- Experience of working in a care environment
Desirable
- Experience of Working with people with a mental Illness
Skills & Abilities
- Physical ability to complete Safety Intervention Training
- Good IT skills
Desirable
- Physical Health skills, NEWS 2, Recognising the deteriorating patient
Qualifications (Essential)
- Level 3 qualification (e.g. A-level, NVQ3) in Care or Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE, NVQ2) in care and will be expected to undertake the relevant level 3 qualification on appointment to post
- Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
- Management of Actual and Potential Aggression (MAPA) training
- I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

- Good verbal and written English
