Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team at our newly acquired care home The Moorings Residential care home. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting patients in their daily activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of care plans, and the ability to work effectively within a care home or home care setting. A background in IT is advantageous for maintaining patient records and assisting with digital documentation.
Responsibilities
- Manage your 12 hour shift, daily handover sheets, allocations.
- Assist patients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support individuals with mobility and physical activities, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Help in the preparation of meals and assist patients during mealtimes as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care, including updates on care plans and daily activities.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Monitor patients’ health and report any changes to the GP and management team
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for patients.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a healthcare assistant role or similar position is preferred
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential for effective interaction with patients and colleagues.
- Familiarity with care plans and the ability to implement them accurately is highly desirable.
- Basic IT skills are required for maintaining patient records and using digital tools effectively.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others is crucial for success in this role.
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team while also being self-motivated when working independently.
