Salary: £24,071 to £25,674 per annum

About the Role
Selby CAMHS is delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our neurodevelopmental pathway within Selby CAMHS.
Selby CAMHS supports young people across Selby, Tadcaster and Pocklington. The service is commissioned to undertake Autism Spectrum Condition diagnostic assessments for young people under the age of 18. We are also commissioned to undertake diagnostic assessments for ADHD, and post-diagnostic support. We have a multi-disciplinary team working across these pathways.
The successful candidate must have completed the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent. Candidates must also have Literacy and Numeracy level 2 or equivalent and must complete the Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within their probationary period (first 6 months in role).
The successful candidates who do not have the required qualifications will be expected to enrol on the Healthcare Assistant Framework which will include the acquisition of the level 2 Diploma Health and Social Care, level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent and achievement of competencies. You will have a maximum of 2 years to complete this.
The successful candidate will play an active role within the pathways. As examples they will undertake school based observations, physical health checks and support observational assessments in collaboration with other professionals. They will join MDT discussions to review the assessment findings within the pathway.
The post holder will support the coordination of the pathway, including audit and evaluation. They will also take a proactive role in promoting young people and family/carer involvement with the service, promoting involvement and collaboration wherever possible.
Most of the role will be clinic based, working from Selby CAMHS at Worsley Court. However, the successful candidate will be able to drive to schools and other sites within North Yorkshire and York as required.
Main Duties
Clinical Responsibilities, Patient Contact
- Â Maintains safety, privacy and dignity of all children and young people in the delivery of patient centred care recognising and respecting differences including spiritual and cultural beliefs.
- Responsible for recognising the signs of patient harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, identifying issues regarding the safeguarding of children who may be at risk and reporting all such concerns in accordance with Trust Safeguarding procedures.
- Undertakes delegated activities within level of own competency, and with due regard to risk assessment, to assist with the implementation of intervention plans as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Patients have a range of mental health conditions, may demonstrate behaviours that challenge and may have difficult family situations of relevance.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Undertakes administrative tasks in relation to own work.
- Uses Microsoft Office applications.
Responsibility for Information Systems
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records using PARIS (and/or paper records where approved) in accordance with the Trust and professional record keeping standards.
Responsibility for Planning/Organising & Strategic/Business Development
- Plans and organises own delegated workload, prioritising appropriately in accordance with safety and patient need.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Health and Social Care level 2 or equivalent (Trainee: must be achieved within 2 years of commencement in post)
- Care Certificate
- Key skills in Literacy and Numeracy level 2
- Successful completion of Trust’s full HCA Framework within 6-month probationary period
Experience (Essential criteria)
- Previous experience as a Band 2/3 HCA or equivalent in a care environment. (Trainee post: no essential experience required)
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working with children and young people
Skills (Essential criteria)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Time management and ability to prioritise effectively
- Competency in record keeping (within agreed timescales)
- Breakaway techniques (within agreed timescale)
