About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Home Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in their own homes. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by assisting with daily activities and ensuring their comfort and safety. This position requires excellent communication skills, a caring attitude, and the ability to follow care plans effectively.
Main Duties
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support clients with meal preparation and ensure access to nutritious food.
- Help clients with mobility, including driving them to appointments or social activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe home environment, ensuring all areas are tidy and hygienic.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences, fostering a trusting relationship.
- Follow care plans and ensure that service users’ needs, wishes, and preferences are consistently met.
- Document and report any changes in clients’ conditions or needs to the Senior Carer/Nurse or relevant healthcare professionals.
- Support service users in maintaining relationships and connections with their family, friends, and local community.
- Ensure service users are at the heart of care delivery, promoting their wellbeing and safeguarding their welfare.
- Contribute to the efficient running of the service and work collaboratively with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate efficiently using IT systems.
- Develop effective working relationships with colleagues and act professionally, politely, and reasonably at all times.
- Be a role model and ambassador for the service.
- Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth and commit to achieving qualifications relevant to the role.
- Attend statutory and any other training as required.
- Understand and follow all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including the Fundamental Standards and CQC expectations.
- Be open to learning opportunities and actively contribute to service improvement.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in home care or a care home setting is preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- A valid driving licence is required for transporting clients as needed.
- Ability to follow care plans accurately and provide personalised support based on individual client needs.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes are advantageous.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others is essential for this role.
- RQF qualifications in Social Care
