As a supported housing service, we work closely with our residents, providing goal-oriented weekly support sessions tailored to their individual needs and long-term aspirations. Our aim is to empower residents to build independence, develop new skills, and strengthen existing ones, ultimately breaking the cycle of homelessness and creating a pathway toward a more stable and fulfilling future.
Position Overview:
As a Housing Support Worker (HSW), you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable individuals to maintain their tenancies, develop life skills, and access the services they need. You will work closely with residents to create a safe, stable, and empowering environment where they can thrive.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
- Resident Support & Well-being: Provide person-centered support to residents facing physical, mental, and social challenges, helping them work towards stability and independence.
- Personalised Support Planning: Develop and implement tailored support plans that align with each resident’s long-term goals, reviewing progress regularly.
- Tenancy & Housing Assistance: Help residents understand their tenancy rights and responsibilities, maintain their accommodation, and prevent homelessness recurrence.
- Crisis Intervention & Safeguarding: Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, manage crisis situations effectively, and follow safeguarding protocols to ensure resident safety.
- Life Skills Development: Support residents in developing essential skills such as budgeting, meal preparation, personal care, and household management to enhance their independence.
- Emotional & Social Support: Encourage meaningful engagement, reduce social isolation, and promote overall well-being through emotional support and structured activities.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration, Teamwork & Continuous Development : Work alongside healthcare professionals, mental health services, local authorities, and other organisationsto ensure holistic support for residents. As well as collaborating with colleagues, participating in meetings and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
- Employment, Training & Education Support: Assist residents in accessing education, vocational training, or employment opportunities to build confidence and self-sufficiency.
- Advocacy & Empowerment: Advocate for residents’ needs, ensuring their voices are heard and empowering them to take control of their own lives.
- Accurate Record-Keeping & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date case notes, risk assessments, and incident reports in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Tasks:

Providing Support:
- Working alongside with our tenants in accordance to their Individualised support plans
- Creating and reviewing support plans for all our users
- Identifying and recommending relevant support services
- Maintaining and developing professional relationships with our tenants
- Being able to problem solve
- Supporting service users to maintain their tenancies
Risk Assess Tenants:
- To be able to use the risk assessment guidance and identify the risks associated to the tenants using our service
- Being able to score tenants risks appropriately according to the guidance and scoring sheet
- Be able to identify and use initiative to see if tenant is suitable to live with others in the property in order to avoid future conflict or health and safety concerns.
Management of Properties:
- Ensuring the property is up to a high standard of living for the tenants
- Being able to assist and advise tenants surrounding cleaning within the properties to ensure standards of hygiene are up to a good and manageable condition
- Ensuring properties visited are secure and locked by checking the keys, locks and doors to follow the guidelines surrounding health and safety and welfare of tenants
- Being able to identify, feedback and report any maintenance work/ health and safety checks that need to be done in properties visited in order to meet high standards of safety
- Understanding and following policies and procedures to keep both yourself and the tenants safe
- Being able to collect service charges from the tenants and handling cash
- Ensuring that new tenants are provided with all relevant items and rooms are of good standards. Also ensuring that rooms are ready & clean for new clients when clients move on
- Making sure new tenants are allocated to rooms with good standards of cleanliness and are provided with the necessary basics such as keys, items and a quick tour of the property upon arriving if asked
Requirements:
- A Level or equivalent of qualification.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach and person-centred approach.
- Good reading, writing and organisational skills.
- Reliable, trustworthy and able to manage time effectively.
- Excellent ICT Skills including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Be able to plan and prioritise workload.
