International Merit Scholarships at Iowa State University

Iowa State University is offering scholarship opportunities to international students who aim to attain a Bachelor’s degree. First-year international students will be considered for a limited number of merit scholarships. Scholarship selection is competitive based on a holistic review of SAT or ACT scores and high school marks/grades. Students must complete the OneApp scholarship application to be considered for the award.

Scholarship Reward: $5,000 to $10,000 per year

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

  • Incoming international first-year applicants who have been offered admission and are assessed international tuition
  • Complete the Iowa State University OneApp application
  • Complete the General OneApp application AND
  • Complete the International Student Admissions Scholarship application

Benefits of the Scholarship

  • Award of achievement: Up to $40,000 ($5,000/yr–$10,000/yr)
  • Award of distinction: Up to $16,000 ($2,000/yr–$4,000/yr)

First-year recipients will be funded for a maximum of eight semesters, or completion of the degree, whichever comes first.

Conditions for Keeping the Scholarship

The following criteria must be met during your Iowa State career to maintain the scholarship:

  • Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 while enrolled at Iowa State
  • Continuous enrollment in a minimum of 12 semester credits each semester (summers not included)
  • Only students assessed international tuition are eligible for this award
  • The award may only be used toward undergraduate tuition and fees
