About the Role
This role is perfect for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy bookkeeper who enjoys flexible work and thrives in a remote setting. While the role begins part-time, there’s significant potential to grow into a full-time position based on performance and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day bookkeeping using Xero, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent (primarily Xero).
- Process payroll using BrightPay for various clients.
- Preparation of VAT returns (including understanding of standard, cash, and flat-rate schemes).
- Generate financial reports and summaries directly from Xero.
- Assist with general practice operations and provide ad-hoc support to accountants when needed.
Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero is essential.
- Strong understanding of UK VAT rules.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Experience with platforms such as Accountancy manager and Slack are desired.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong organisational skills.
- Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Desirable (But Not Essential)
- AAT qualified or currently studying.
- Experience with remote work tools (e.g., Slack, Trello, Google Workspace).
- Familiarity with MTD-compliant workflows.
