  • The role of this Personal Care Assistant
  • Our personal care assistants join our client’s support team, providing reliable, essential care and support in their home. You will be employed by HomeCareDirect on behalf of the client and your focus will be to support them only.
  • The post is for 14 hours per week, the hours of work will be between 10:00am and 17:00pm. Shifts will be allocated to meet the needs of the client and the rota so you should be flexible.

About the Client and Duties

  • Our client is a man with very complex care and medical needs following an accident. He is very easy-going with a sense of humour and has full capacity.  Full support is required to ensure he lives a healthy and happy life.  Whilst on shift you will support our client when needed and undertake light domestic duties around the home while maintaining an aseptic environment.
  • PA’s should have prior experience in complex care and demonstrate the ability to stay calm under pressure. You should be self-motivated and capable of working independently without direction.  We are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable, and easy-going.

Training and Support:

We provide comprehensive, paid training to CQC standards covering:

  • Full induction
  • Safeguarding Adults
  • Health & Safety / First Aid / Food Hygiene
  • Moving & Handling
  • Complex Care Training inc: Tracheotomy Care, Oral Suction, Nebuliser, Cough Assist
  • Gastrostomy Care / Medication via PEG
  • Catheter and Bowel Care
  • Spinal Injury Awareness

All training must be completed before the start date, with training hours paid at £14.00 per hour

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in complex care is essential
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • You must be able to remain calm under pressure
  • You must be able to demonstrate a responsible attitude and be self-motivated
  • Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
  • You must be reliable, compassionate and committed to respecting confidentiality
