Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in providing support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care environments. As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for delivering personalised support to young people (aged 16-18) while ensuring their safety and well-being. We are ideally looking for people based in Sheffield ,or Coventry, however do note that we might need them to travel throughout the country for sleep-in shifts. Female staff preferred.

Shift Patterns

The successful candidate will be required to undertake sleep-in shifts at one of our residential placements. This may involve residing at the placement for a period of 1–2 weeks, followed by a rest period of up to one week.Standard weekday shifts are scheduled from 9:00am to 9:00pm, inclusive of a 2-hour unpaid break. Weekend shifts are scheduled from 10:00am to 6:00pm, inclusive of a 1-hour unpaid break.

Do note that this is a part-time position, and while shifts will be offered based on service needs, they cannot be guaranteed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
  • Exercise responsibilities of duty of care.
  • Engage in behaviour management techniques to promote positive interactions and outcomes.
  • Be alert to indicators or signs of abuse and neglect for young people
  • Maintain accurate records and create reports of young people’s progress.
  • Support and mentor young People with their educational, training and employment needs.
  • Promote social inclusion which allow YPs to develop their confidence and improve their social skills by participating in relationship building activities and key work sessions.
  • Support the YPs to create a budget plan.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to management.
  • Support, Mentor YPs with their educational, training and employment needs
  • Staff is expected to report safeguarding concerns.
  • Foster a supportive environment that encourages independence and dignity for all clients.

Experience

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or similar caregiving/support roles is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of first aid principles and practices is beneficial.
  • Experience in childcare may also be considered relevant for this role.
  • A background in nursing or senior care will be viewed favourably.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families are essential.
  • Must have authorisation to work in the UK.
