Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join us at Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust to work on an exciting histopathology transformation and automation project that supports the NHS England histopathology transformation strategy.
This is an opportunity for a highly motivated and professional individual to join the trust and work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders within pathology and across the trust to deliver digital projects. These include increasing the use of automated lab testing using digital solutions such as order requesting and voice recognition software following a period of organisation and workflow analysis.
You will lead your project team, coach and manager junior members and deliver key initiatives. The postholder will be experienced in utilising appropriate tools and project methodologies whilst aligning to the departments project delivery lifecycle methodology.
The post will sit within our Digital IT department but be ringfenced to work solely on histopathology initiatives including but not exclusively, the roll out of ICE requesting and supporting the deployment of digital automation initiatives within the service.

Main duties of the job
The post holder;
- Will manage a set of complex projects to professional standards.
- Support, facilitate and monitor progress of projects
- Support process and performance improvements
- Lead a small team of specialists as well as providing matrix-management of project staff
- Be responsible for developing Business Cases to secure project funding and subsequent management of these funds
- Will be required to manage and advise project staff that have day to day responsibility for overseeing the various elements of implementation, working closely with clinical and non-clinical teams to introduce new ways of working that are consistent with new technology

This role will sit within the diagnostic service and support the team in initiatives designed to reduce cancer turnaround times.
