Position: Receptionist/Administrator

Salary: £29,485 to £31,088 a year pa inclusive

About the Role

You will promote a customer focused approach to receiving patients and visitors to therapy clinics, providing a courteous, responsive and effective first point of contact both in person and by telephone for patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

You will prioritise, plan and organise daily workload as part of an administration team, ensuring that daily tasks and ongoing workload/projects are appropriately prioritised and completed within agreed and acceptable timescales.

Provide effective and efficient administrative and reception support to the therapy inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring that administration processes meet the needs of all service users and the Trust.

Main Duties

Key areas of responsibility

  • To provide and maintain an excellent level of customer care at all times. 
  • To ensure that all administrative duties are carried out in an accurate, efficient and professional manner at all times. 
  • To communicate effectively and sympathetically with all visitors to the department.
  • To input and maintenance of timely and accurate patient information on Trust information systems.
  • Prioritise, plan and organise daily workload as part of a team, ensuring that daily tasks and ongoing workload/projects are prioritised and completed within agreed and acceptable timescales

General Responsibilities

  • Promote a customer focused approach to receiving patients and visitors to the clinic, providing a courteous, responsive and effective first point of contact both in person and by telephone for patients, carers and healthcare professionals, both internal and external to the Trust.
  • To check patients’ details on arrival and make any changes to relevant Trust information systems
  • To obtain patients details in a sensitive manner taking into consideration the diversities of the general public and the needs of the patients who may be anxious or distressed

Qualifications

Education/ Qualifications (Essential)

  • Good educational standard of at least GCSE in English or Maths or equivalent Qualifications equivalent to NVQ L3.

Desirable

  • Reception/customer service training
  • Relevant administration training

Experience (Essential)

  • Demonstrable customer service experience
  • Experience of prioritising work and workload to meet service core requirements and or deadlines

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a healthcare or NHS setting
  • Experience dealing with people in healthcare or other stressful environments
  • Experience with information databases

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities (Essential)

  • Basic computer literacy
  • Keyboard skills for use with multiple systems
  • Good organisational skills

Desirable

  • Microsoft Excel
  • ICHIS/Cerner/PAS experience
