About the Role
Due to rapid expansion, we are actively seeking committed, conscientious and high caliber support workers to join our dynamic team based in West London and Surrey area. You will be providing key work support to young people that reside within our 24-hour shared accommodation units.
We are seeking experienced individuals aged over 23yrs who share our commitment to providing the highest quality support and can demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative, as well as being a team player with a strong work ethic.
Specification: Hours: 40 hours p/w in 8 hour shifts Shift Pattern: Alternate shift patterns including, days, evenings, and waking nights. Some weekend work may be required.
Main Duties
- To ensure consistent delivery of high-quality services to service users, partner organizations and staff alike in accordance with the policy and procedures of the organization
- To undertake direct work with young people living in our 24-hour unit shared accommodation which aims to enable them to gain the confidence and skills to live independently as well as supporting them practically and emotionally in their day-to-day lives.
Direct Work
- To ensure that the young people are effectively inducted into the homes and ensure that the young people have a good experience and are shown around the home. Given a copy of the young people’s guide, shown all fire exits, introduced to the key worker and other young people at the home and to work through their occupancy agreement and rules of the home and sign all relevant documentation
- To form caring, respectful, trusting, and professional relationships with all of our allocated young people.
- To contribute to the holistic assessment of the individual young person’s current needs including writing detailed and regularly reviewed person-centered support plans that include the young person’s views, wishes and feelings for their ongoing support.
- To compile and work through with the young people, comprehensive individual risk assessments to support young people to identify and manage their potential risks and to withdraw from potentially harmful relationships, and support the team with understanding triggers, push and pull factors, and to identify any other risks such as CSE, CCE, Gang culture, FGM, the list is non exhaustive.
- To write comprehensive individual daily reports, and handovers, incident forms, key work sessions, daily health and safety checks and all other relevant forms
- To assist young people in completing actions as identified in their support plan/risk assessment (i.e. help with claiming benefits, dealing with tenancy issues, finding employment training or education, registering with GP, Dentist, optician etc.). non exhaustive list
- To provide emotional and practical support to young people in their daily lives and any issues which may arise.
- To support young people to meet with required cultural communities or places of worship.
- To work through the ‘Transition into Independence’ programme with young people where required.
- To deliver services within a solution-focused brief therapy approach and act as a positive role model for young people.
- To address wider support needs and encourage opportunities for personal development and achievement within Every Child Matters outcomes framework.
- To hold regular planned key work sessions with young people either in the unit or out in the community
- To assist young people in making timely benefits claims and to monitor/intervene in ongoing claims as needed.
- To support young people in making asylum claims/attending home office appointment, meeting with SPRACAB or solicitors, support to access a national insurance number and the benefits system when the biometric resident permit has been approved by the home office. Again, the list is non exhaustive
Service Delivery
- To deliver services in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures always.
- To encourage and support young people’s participation and involvement in service delivery and design.
- To ensure case records and reports are completed clearly and accurately and comply with the relevant quality standards.
- To ensure GDPR confidentiality of all information relating to young people, including files, conversations etc.
- To be effective at multi-agency working and advocacy which will include large elements of communicating directly with Children’s Services, Jobcentres, Council benefits departments, training providers etc.· To contribute to service development and review.
- To participate in and be prepared for supervision sessions with your line manager
Property Management
- To assist in ensuring accommodation is always clean and tidy. To assist in conducting new admissions and completing all paperwork.
- To observe Health and Safety requirements and to complete Health and safety checks of property.
- To assist Young in maintaining their placement; ensuring curfews are met, maintenance is reported and general housekeeping tasks etc.
- To liaise with Service Manager where needed and advocate on behalf of young people.

Qualifications
Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in the children and young people workforce or Level 3 Diploma in health & social care, or equivalent qualification.
Applicants that do not have a level 3 will be required to work towards this qualification and provided with training & support. Safeguarding level 1- 2 Desired but not essential (Safeguarding can be covered in the induction process)
