As a Senior BA within DWP Digital Analytics you will lead business analysis activities in a complex area of work in the delivery of service improvements.
You’ll use your experience of translating business and user needs into deliverables, working collaboratively to define and achieve value outcomes.
Working closely with senior stakeholders you’ll, facilitate the setting of project priorities in line with strategic and business goals.
As a prominent member of the Business Analyst community, you’ll contribute significantly to our active and evolving Community of Practice.
Leadership development will be a key focus, with opportunities to grow your capabilities while supporting colleagues to take ownership of their learning and development in line with business needs.

Job description
As a Senior BA working within DWP Analytics, you will:
- Work within the portfolio team; a multi-disciplinary team that support DWP Analytics Service in delivering the infrastructure and tooling that enables data experts to develop, test and deploy analytics workloads, supporting transaction level decision making.
- Lead workshops, interviews and focus groups to effectively understand business problems and user needs across our service.
- Understand the business processes and activities that impact and that are impacted by the service whilst developing an understanding of how the service aligns with the wider strategy of the department.
- Work with the wider UCD team to identify potential process improvements, considering risks, issues and benefits.
- Communicate effectively across senior technical and business stakeholders, ensuring the understanding of requirements and acceptance criteria is aligned, and any issues and risks raised are resolved in an appropriate manner.
- Be a leading member of the BA community, taking on leadership responsibilities of Bas. Additionally, you will play a significant role in capability building and recruitment when required.

Hybrid Working
This role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.
If a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for the role and for you, you will normally be required to spend a minimum of 60% of your contracted working hours from your DWP office.

Salary Information
Pay for this role is from £57,946 to £68,205.
Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.
Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer will maintain their current salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion will either move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or get a 10% increase to their current salary whichever would be the greater.

Stage 1: Application
Your application will consist of three parts:
A Personal Details application form.
Employment history – this should contain your work experience and any skills, qualifications and accomplishments relevant to the jobs you have completed.
Personal statement – up to 500 words. This statement should be used to provide examples of how you meet the essential criteria below:
Able to demonstrate significant experience of working at Senior BA level, leading business analysis activities within complex projects/environments (as detailed in our job description).
Demonstrates experience of supporting other Bas to take responsibility for their own learning and development and building their BA toolkit.
Note to candidates: To be successful in all criteria, you must provide as much information and detail as you can, explaining in your own words what you did, and how you did it.
The sift panel will use the information in your employment history and personal statement to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the essential criteria.

Stage 2: Interview
If you’re successful at sift stage you will be invited to a video interview via Microsoft Teams. There, you will be assessed against the experiences listed below:
Significant experience of working at Senior BA level and leading business analysis activities within complex projects/environments.
Experienced in identifying and building strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
Using a wide range of tools and techniques to identify improvements and make recommendations.
To help you prepare and settle into the interview you will be sent the interview questions in advance of the interview, at least 5 days prior to your interview. These questions should be treated as confidential and should not be shared. The interview panel may ask you other questions which will not be shared in advance, including follow-up questions, and those about your experience and abilities. Candidates may be asked further probing questions if their response is deemed to require further information to determine suitability for the role.
Candidates are strongly encouraged to secure their interview slot promptly to ensure fairness in preparation time with the questions provided in advance.
Sift dates to be confirmed. Interviews will take place from early December 2025.
