About the Role
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Data Analyst to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a remote role.
Our client is looking for a skilled Senior Data Analyst to join their Transaction Monitoring ™ Unit. The team is part of Group Financial Crime Prevention (GFCP), which provides group-wide solutions to fight financial crime in the organisation. As a Senior Expert you will play a valuable role in the client’s fight against financial crime, working with significant amounts of data to extract meaningful insights to develop, review, manage and optimise automated TM controls focused upon their business.
Responsibilities
- Independently driving initiatives, collaborating with the team, and influencing stakeholders to strengthen automated transaction monitoring controls
- Accessing complex and distributed datasets and perform statistical analysis, simulation of existing controls and assess the impact of specific changes
- Working with the team and stakeholders to understand business requirement and develop technical design for TM Controls based on data insights
- Providing suggestions for the re-design of existing TM controls
- Manage the optimisation of existing TM controls through quantitative data analysis (including above and below the Line testing)
- Analysing, assessing, and documenting the effectiveness of existing automated transaction monitoring controls
- Representing the organisation with high degree of professionalism in both external and internal context
Requirements
- Professional level of tools as Python, SQL, R, Excel
- Previous experience working with Quantexa would be advantageous
- Academic degree in highly quantitative discipline or specialisation such as Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Quantitative Economics, Computer Science
- Previous experience in the Financial Crime Compliance field and good understanding of anti-money laundering/financial crime controls
- Demonstrable experience in using optimisation algorithms and good statistical knowledge
- Analytical mindset and extensive experience working in data science, analysis, and simulation
- Organised, structured and professional in taking initiative and work proactively under own direction
- Strong stakeholder management
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- Good business orientation
- Very good understanding of Correspondent Banking/Relationships and SWIFT messages
- Strong understanding of Capital Markets or Trade Finance business and products
