About the Role
Job summary
To support the Information Manager within the Contracting & Costing Department in the provision of an information and analysis service delivering accurate, timely and effectively communicated information to external and internal stakeholders. They will be a key player in ensuring that the organisation has robust activity/ performance data and effective reporting to allow it to function as an intelligence-driven organisation.
Main duties of the job
- The postholder must have a thorough understanding of the National Tariff Payment System (NTPS) and NHS contractual data.
- Ensure effective systems and procedures are in place for the collection, recording and reporting of Trust activity to commissioners.
- Develop and maintain local reporting databases, reporting systems and spreadsheet applications to support all routine contractual reporting requirements.
- Support the contract management process, working closely with the Information Manager and the Head of Contracting & Costing to minimise financial risk to the Trust.
- Provide advice on information data standards and activity reporting.
- Maintain costing/ pricing databases and feeder systems, building the correct application of NHS Costing guidance into the database to ensure consistent recording of clinical activity
- Work with the Trust’s Informatics and Directorate Teams to ensure continual improvement in the recording of the Trust’s clinical activities.
- Liaise with clinicians and operational staff to establish and maintain resource usage profiles to reflect delivery of clinical care, ensuring surgical and medical interventions are fully understood, i.e.Job/Procedure profiling.
- Provision of costing information for external benchmarking and costing policy development, cooperating with external organisations.

- Specialist knowledge of information analysis and the use of information through degree or equivalent, plus additional specialist knowledge acquired through training and relevant experience
- Understanding of statutory and mandatory requirements, with clear knowledge of best practice
- Understanding of NHS contracting, commissioning and regulatory requirements/processes
- Database design and management, statistical analysis, data modelling and interrogation
- Extensive skillset in business intelligence software including Microsoft Power BI
- Experience of providing business intelligence, reports and dashboards
