Salary: £51,000 – £57,000 a year

The Role
Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to deliver large-scale and complex capital projects within the Trust’s Strategic Estates masterplan.
Working closely with the Programme Director and internal teams, you will take responsibility for the full lifecycle of high-value NHS capital schemes — from business case to delivery and post-project evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and coordinate major NHS capital projects to agreed time, cost, and quality standards.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, and contractors.
- Prepare and present business cases, project initiation documents, risk and issue logs, benefits tracking and evaluation reports.
- Develop project budgets, manage resources, and report on financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, HTM/HBN guidance, CDM regulations, and NHS Estates standards.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement with clinical and non-clinical groups, maintaining effective communication at all levels.
- Support governance and reporting requirements to ensure transparency and control.
- Capture and share lessons learned to inform future capital programmes.
About You
Essential:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Project Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent project-management qualification.
- Proven track record managing large-scale, complex projects in estates or construction settings.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with ability to influence at senior level.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and project-planning tools (MS Project or similar).
Desirable:
- Experience delivering NHS or public-sector capital works.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts and Agenda for Change governance processes.
- Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent).
