About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and resourceful social workers who will have the ability to respond positively and creatively to the needs of our service users.
The Mid area of Essex plays home to a number of key partner organisations who we work closely with, including voluntary services, primary care services and therapy providers.

You will work at the forefront of our community mental health treatment teams in the Mid Essex area (Chelmsford) providing EPUT’s secondary mental health services. Our posts require individuals to think with a positive and forward thinking attitude, putting the needs and safety of our services users at the heart of everything we do. The role offers the ability to have independent professional freedom but also with access to the support and expertise of a multi-disciplinary team.

Within the Mid Essex locality we offer support from our Social Care Leadership Team, along with opportunities to progress and advance within your career for those aspiring leaders and clinical experts. The team provides caseload supervision as well as managerial supervision, limited and weighted caseloads and extensive training and development opportunities – including AMHP Training.
Main Duties
Core Clinical Support
- Assess, manage, careplan, support and review care needs in line with policy, procedures and legislation, including the provision of aftercare under Section 117 of the Mental Health Act. Act as a care coordinator for your own caseload
- Use strength based approaches to support service users, focusing on them achieving positive outcomes to enhance their wellbeing, look at prevention and increasing their independence in line with the Care Act 2014.Â
- Provide a clear picture of how a person’s independence can be promoted and maximised. Promote conversations to draw on the support around each person, their networks, local community and personal resources and support with delivering statutory responsibilities under the Care Act (2014).Â
Core Non-Clinical Support
- You are responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of lower banded staff within your team locality.Â
- As required by your manager, this may include ensuring new staff are appropriately inducted, that staff receive appropriate supervision, have an annual appraisal and are compliant with mandatory training requirements. Where appropriate this may also include the requirement you manage these staff in line with agreed Trust HR processes.
- To liaise with staff in a variety of settings, ensuring that teams are able to respond effectively and efficiently to the needs of people with mental health problems in their care.
Qualifications
Education/Qualifications
- Social Work Qualification – Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalentÂ
- Agrees a commitment to AMHP training.
Knowledge
- Multi-disciplinary Social Care experience within multi-disciplinary team – relevant to people with mental health difficulties.Â
- Knowledge and understanding of Social Care practice as defined by HCPC and appropriate legislation and guidance.Â
- Working knowledge of The Care Act and other key legislation
Skills/Experience
- Literate in IT/Computer SkillsÂ
- Good oral communication skills based on fluency on the English languageÂ
- Demonstrates a commitment to highest professional and ethical values.
