Overview

ABOBVO links, a new best-in-class Supported Living Service Provider. Our services are specifically tailored for individuals (adults 18-65 yrs.) with learning disabilities & Autism, including those with challenging behaviours and associated complex needs. We also offer respite care and support. As a Support Worker at ABOBVO Links Supported Living Accommodation for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and other neurodiverse disorders. You will use your intuition, skills and empathy to help our residents get the most out of life. You will work as part of a team to support residents with complex and sometimes challenging behaviours. You can expect to make a big difference in the lives of the service users we care for and support, becoming part of their day-to-day lives and ensuring they are always treated with dignity and respect. As a Support Worker, you will strive to help create a safe environment in which service users can live as independently as possible.

As a Support Worker, you could be doing anything from supporting residents with their food and drinks, support with employment/education/voluntary jobs and following care plans to ensuring that each of our service users has one-to-one time and key work sessions. Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support to clients, ensuring their dignity and comfort at all times.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, bathing, dressing, and mobility support.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies as needed to ensure the well-being of clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of client care and report any changes in condition to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist clients with medication management as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Support individuals with learning disability, autism, and other neurodiverse conditions, ensuring their safety and comfort while engaging them in meaningful activities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement personalised care plans for each client.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in care or support work is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
  • Knowledge of first aid practices is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
  • A caring attitude towards individuals requiring assistance, demonstrating empathy and patience.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team within a nursing home or home care setting.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying client needs and schedules.
  • A valid driving licence may be beneficial for community-based roles but is not mandatory.
