Who are Ansar Projects?
We are a support provider who believe that people we support should be at the centre of everything we do. Ansar Projects was set up 13 years ago to provide specific support for one person. From this we have grown and developed as a company and became part of the Thera Group in 2016. Thera Group are a charity that support people with a learning disability in the community. We want to demonstrate that people with a learning disability can be leaders in society.
While experience in supporting people can be beneficial, we believe that it is more important to have the right attitude and approach to wanting to make a difference in people’s day to day lives and support them to develop and grow. We offer a full training package with Skills for Care endorsement and will support you to gain further qualifications and help you to map you career progression. Within Ansar Projects we believe working as a support worker is more than just a job, it can be the start of a varied career.
What does a Support Worker do?
The role of a Support Worker is to ensure the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives. Supporting someone with a learning disability isn’t just about personal care, it is so much more. It is about supporting people to enhance, and broaden themselves and what they do physically, emotionally and socially. Developing their environments and communications. This could be through learning new life skills such as cooking or actively seeking out new choices and opportunities, engaging in education and social interactions. While some people may have more complex behavioural needs, we still endeavour to meet their needs through offering the same opportunities in a way that best supports them.
What experience do I need?
You do not need to have worked in supported living before to be a good Support Worker. If you are caring, kind and patient with a zest for life and a good sense of fun we want to hear from you. Ideally you will already hold a Level 2 Health and Social Care Diploma but if not, we will support you to achieve this. You will need to have great communication skills, both speaking and listening and be comfortable making decisions. A basic level of English and Math is also required.
What are the Benefits?
