About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with varying needs, including those with dementia and other health conditions. This position requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients through empathetic care and effective communication.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Administer medication as prescribed and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements.
- Assist clients with mobility, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Engage in behaviour management strategies to support clients with challenging behaviours.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance clients’ well-being.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients at all times.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to ensure comprehensive care plans are followed.
- Participate in training sessions on first aid and other relevant topics to enhance skills.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a support worker role or similar position is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
- Certification in first aid is an advantage.
- Experience in medication administration is beneficial.
- Strong patient care skills and the ability to work effectively in a nursing home or hospice care setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and understanding.
- A willingness to undertake heavy lifting as required by the role.
