Position: Support Worker

Salary: £13.69 – £27.38 per hour

About the Role

Weekday hourly: £13.69

Weekend hourly: £16.41

Sleep-ins: £80.80 / sleep-in = 7 hours

Waking night: £13.69

Bank holiday enhancement: £27.38

Shift Patterns:

Option of either one 24‑hour shift per week or 3x 24-hour shifts per fortnight

Waking shift from 7:00 am to midnight

Sleeping shift from midnight to 7:00 am (with changeover at 7:30 am)

About the Role:

We are looking for a Support Worker to provide dedicated support for our client, a young male, with a long-standing and well-established care team. He is highly autonomous and plays an active role in directing his staff team regarding the care and support he requires. He is also engaged in Boccia, a sport he enjoys regularly, and competes on a professional level, and his support team plays an important role in helping him participate fully in these activities.

The role requires 1:1 and sometimes 2:1 when travelling. The client requires support with all activities of daily living, including personal care, eating, and drinking and moving & handling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care Needs: Support with full personal care, moving & handling. The client has an oral diet but requires support with eating and drinking.
  • Driver: Confident driving the clients WAV (VW Transporter)
  • Client Interests: The client enjoys Boccia, loves good food and playing Dungeons & Dragons.

Required:

  • No experience required but must have a willingness to learn.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
  • Ability to build trust and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • A confident and sensitive approach to care, with respect for the client’s independence, home, and family.
  • A full, valid UK driving license.
  • Ability to empathise with the client and support appropriately.

Preferred:

  • Comfortable working in a family home environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding and acknowledge the clients ability and not undermine this as a result of his physical support needs.
