The Ark Centre is a vibrant and inclusive day service that supports adults aged 18 to 65 with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and mental health needs. Operating from a bright, spacious building with a large garden area, the centre provides a safe and stimulating environment where individuals can thrive.
With a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care, The Ark Centre works to enhance each individual’s personal goals and overall enjoyment during their time at the service. A wide range of engaging activities is available, including reading, writing, music therapy, sensory stimulation, and access to dedicated spaces such as a sensory room, cinema room, and relaxation tub. Service users also enjoy community walks and exciting day trips to zoos, farms, parks, theatres, and museums.
The team at The Ark Centre Is highly trained and passionate about care. Staff members follow personal development plans and hold qualifications ranging from Level 2 to Level 5 Diplomas in Health & Social Care, alongside specialist training in areas such as Autism, Makaton, and Epilepsy.

About the Role
At The Ark Day Centre, we believe that every person deserves care that’s respectful, empowering, and built around their individual needs. As a Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals live as independently and fully as possible. You’ll deliver compassionate, person-centred support in line with our values, regulatory standards, and best practice — always putting the person first.
Guided by the Assistant manager/ Team Leaders, you’ll ensure that the dignity, choices, and wellbeing of each person we support are always respected. You’ll work in partnership with others to create a safe, comfortable, and uplifting environment.
Responsibilities and Duties: Role-specific Duties:
- Ensure service users are central to care delivery, with their preferences and wellbeing as priorities
- Support service users with daily activities including personal hygiene, meals, mobility, and social interaction
- Work mostly independently in the service user’s home
- Follow care plans and report any changes to the Care Manager/ Assistant Managers
- Promote and safeguard the wellbeing and rights of service users
Working with Others:
- Be part of a supportive team that works together to meet each person’s individual needs.
- Respectfully those support in maintaining relationships with family, friends, and their community
Other Duties:
- Participate in ongoing training and development
- Be a role model and ambassador for the service
- Uphold professionalism and kindness in every interaction
Personal and Professional Development:
- Attend mandatory and developmental training sessions
- Work towards relevant health and social care qualifications
- Uphold and follow all relevant policies and procedures
- Stay open to growth and learning opportunities
