Do you have a passion for delivering exceptional patient service in a buzzing hospital setting? Our Maternity team are looking for a Ward Clerk to join their vibrant team at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital.
This rewarding, patient-facing role puts you at the heart of our ward, supporting expectant parents during some of the most significant and vulnerable moments of their lives.
You’ll provide exceptional costumer service to our patients, their relatives and friends, then administrative support, coordinate admissions and discharges, and handle enquiries sensitively and professionally. Strong organisational skills, empathy, and excellent interpersonal abilities are vital to succeed within this role.
In this role you will be expected to do shift work covering both day and night shifts (8am-8pm / 8pm-8am) throughout the week, including weekends. Please note, this role requires full on-site presence with no hybrid working.
Previous clerical experience, particularly within healthcare, would be advantageous but is not essential. We offer thorough training, a supportive environment, and an opportunity to genuinely impact patient care.

Main duties of the job
- Prioritise, plan and organise daily workload, ensuring that daily tasks and on-going workloads are prioritised and completed within agreed and acceptable timescales, ensuring the Administration manager is informed as relevant of any changes in working pattern.
- To photocopy documentation and ensure that stationery is well stocked at all times.
- To answer telephone calls and deal with non-nursing/non-medical enquiries.
- To access voicemail and pass on accurate messages.
- Maintain good communication links with the team and other departments.
- Communicate and document information accordingly.
- Maintain existing systems as necessary to a professional and consistent standard.

- Good educational standard of at least GCSE in English or Maths, or equivalent
