Salary: £35,392 – £42,618 p.a. pro rata

About the Role

The transplant team at CUH are pivotal in ensuring transplant patients continue to receive world class care. The team expertly support and navigate patients throughout their whole transplant journey, from assessment through to lifelong post transplant care in the outpatient setting.

We currently have a full time band 6 vacancy for a specialist support nurse focusing on small bowel and multivisceral transplant patients.

If you have a background in gastro-intestinal and/or transplant nursing and are passionate about making a real difference for patients with end stage organ failure, then this could be the job for you.

Main Duties

  • The post holder is responsible for the provision of high quality, patient focused care
  • Responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programmes
  • Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff
  • Provide support for the management of the intestinal failure/multi-visceral transplant recipient patient care pathway, from referral, preoperative education, and transplant surgery through to life-long follow up in accordance with national and local guidelines.
  • Partake in the provision of post-transplant clinics, MDT’s, post op education and manage a case load of patients with complex physical and psychological needs.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, referring centres and other intestinal transplant centres nationally and internationally to share expertise and dissemination of best practice within intestinal/multi-visceral transplantation.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse.
  • Relevant experience in surgery and/or intestinal failure
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Teaching or mentoring qualification
  • Post registration qualification in speciality or willingness to complete
  • Research Module
  • Demonstrate expert nursing skills
  • Evidence of mentorship/preceptorship roles
