Blackbourne View is situated in the village of Ixworth, West Suffolk. The viilage boasts many historical features including the remains of a Grade I listed priory dating back to 1170. Ixworth has a number of local amenities including doctor’s surgeries, a post office, shops, public houses and has retained a fire and police station.

Orwell Housing Association was formed in 1963 in Ipswich, employing no staff and managing only a handful of properties. Today, Orwell provides a range of services including housing, support and care services. We employ around 700 staff including relief and volunteers whilst managing approximately 4,000 homes for 7500+ residents.

Salary: £11.50 per hour

About the Role

Blackbourne View are looking for an administrator to join their team on a part-time basis!

The purpose of this post is to provide secretarial and administrative support to the service via the Service Manager, to enable adequate systems and procedures to be maintained and monitored.

To provide a friendly and helpful reception service to all visitors and callers to the service, including the provision of information and, where appropriate, the resolution of basic queries.

Main Duties

1. Welcome visitors in a warm and professional manner, ensuring that they adhere to the scheme’s health, safety and fire procedures.

2. Answer the telephone in a friendly and professional manner, taking and forwarding messages as necessary.

3. Provide administrative support to the service, dealing with general correspondence and maintaining accurate and up to date records.


1. Have a minimum of 6 months experience within an administrative role.

2. Have previous experience within a customer facing role, dealing with difficult and complex situations.

3. Be computer literate and have knowledge on all Microsoft Office applications.

4. QCF Level 2 in Business Admin or willing to join the Orwell Academy to work towards this qualification.

5 GCSEs A-C or equivalent including English and Maths.
